Father's Day in Australia lands on the first Sunday of September, which in 2026 means Sunday 6 September. If you're the one in the family who always ends up organising things, this is your reminder to sort it before the good tables are gone.

Here's what's worth knowing about Father's Day in Adelaide this year, plus what's running at both Suburban Brew venues.

Book earlier than you think you need to

Father's Day is one of the busiest hospitality days on the Adelaide calendar, sitting somewhere between Mother's Day and Christmas for pressure on kitchens. Most venues that take bookings will be full a week or two out. Anything with a lunch sitting fills first, because that's what everyone asks for.

Two practical tips. Book a later seating if the early one is gone, since the atmosphere is usually better anyway once the room warms up. And if a venue offers pre-ordering, use it. It cuts your wait significantly on a day when kitchens are stretched.

What most dads actually want

Nobody has ever been disappointed by a barbecue, a cold beer and somewhere to sit outside. Degustation menus and set courses are lovely, but they turn a relaxed Sunday into a two-hour commitment with a schedule. The venues that do Father's Day well in Adelaide tend to keep it simple: good food, a decent tap list, and space to spread out.

Live music helps too. It fills the gaps in conversation that inevitably show up when three generations sit at one table.

Father's Day at The Suburban Brew Glynde

Glynde is running two Father's Day seatings on Sunday 6 September, with BBQ at Yours handling the food and Crybaby Cletus playing blues from 2pm to 5pm.

  • Sunday 6 September 2026
  • Seatings at 12:30pm and 3:30pm
  • Live blues from 2pm to 5pm
  • 26 to 30 Provident Avenue, Glynde SA 5070
  • Bookings online or on 0494 119 316

The 12:30pm seating is the traditional Father's Day lunch. The 3:30pm one overlaps with the band, so if your dad would rather have a long afternoon than a formal lunch, take that one.

Beer is brewed on site, so what you're drinking has travelled about twenty metres. There's on-site parking, plenty of room for kids, and no dress code beyond wearing something.

Book a table at Glynde and then put your food order through here. Full details, FAQs and the whole running order are on the Glynde Father's Day page.

Father's Day at The Suburban Brew Goodwood

Goodwood is running the full day for Father's Day, no single sitting to squeeze into, just turn up and stay as long as you like.

  • Sunday 6 September 2026
  • Print & Sip with Sienna Blok, 12pm to 2pm
  • Happy Hour, 3pm to 6pm, $8 pints on Gold, Pale, Sunday and ESB
  • Mason Lloyd playing live, 4pm to 7pm
  • Meat tray raffle drawn 6pm, supplied by Goodwood Meats
  • Charity hamper raffle, proceeds to Black Dog Institute, drawn after the meat tray
  • 96 Goodwood Road, Goodwood SA 5034
  • Bookings highly recommended, call 0494 109 597

Start the day with a paint and a pour, roll into pints at happy hour prices, and stick around for the band and both raffles. If you're south or south-west of the city, this is the easier run.

Book a table at Goodwood. Full details and FAQs are on the Goodwood Father's Day page.

Where else to look in Adelaide

If neither venue suits, a few honest suggestions for Father's Day 2026 around Adelaide.

Breweries and taprooms. The obvious pick, and for good reason. Casual, no rush, usually family friendly. Most Adelaide breweries run something on the day.

Adelaide Hills wineries. Worth it if the weather holds and Dad is more of a red wine man. Book well ahead, and factor in the drive.

Port Adelaide and the coast. Fish and chips at Semaphore or Glenelg is underrated. Cheap, easy, and nobody has to dress up.

Central Market on the Saturday. Not Father's Day itself, but if you're cooking at home, the Saturday market run is half the fun.

Home, honestly. If your dad is happier with his own barbecue and his own music, do that. The point is the company.

A quick checklist before the day

  • Confirm the booking, including the number of people, at least a few days out
  • Pre-order food if the venue offers it
  • Check parking and give yourself ten extra minutes
  • Sort a designated driver early, not in the carpark
  • Take a photo. You'll want it later.

Sort your table

Sunday 6 September 2026. Barbecue and blues at Glynde, print and sip through to live music and raffles at Goodwood. Two venues, both worth the trip, and both fill up fast.
