Things to Do in Adelaide's Inner East — Glynde, Norwood, Kensington Guide | The Suburban Brew
Posted on
Adelaide's inner east doesn't get the same attention as the eastern suburbs of some Australian cities, but it should. The stretch from Norwood through Kensington, Marden, Glynde and out toward Campbelltown and Magill is one of the more genuinely local parts of Adelaide — good food, independent businesses, the Eastside Wine and Ale Trail, and a neighbourhood feel that's harder to find closer to the CBD.
Here's a guide to the best things to do in Adelaide's inner east.
The Suburban Brew Glynde — craft brewery and taproom
The most obvious starting point. The Suburban Brew Glynde at 26-30 Provident Avenue, Glynde SA 5070 is the inner east's best pub and one of Adelaide's best independent brewery taprooms.
Built into a converted warehouse off Glynburn Road, the venue is a 200-person taproom and event space with the full Suburban Brew beer range on tap, a rotating weekly food truck lineup, a kids' play area and a proper events calendar. Thursday nights run Quiz Meisters Trivia from 6:30pm. Monthly events include live music, markets and community days.
Dog friendly in the outdoor areas. Family friendly. Parking on site.
Open Wednesday through Sunday.

The Eastside Wine and Ale Trail
The Glynde Taproom sits on the Eastside Wine and Ale Trail — a self-guided trail through the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters covering nine boutique cellar doors, two gin distilleries and three breweries and taphouses.
If you're planning a proper day in the inner east, the Eastside Wine and Ale Trail is the most organised way to do it. You can walk, drive or ride between venues depending on how committed you are. The trail covers a lot of what makes the inner east worth spending time in — local producers, quality drinks, venues that are actually interesting rather than generic.

The Parade, Norwood
The Parade is the main shopping and dining strip of the inner east — one of Adelaide's better main streets for an afternoon wander. Good cafes, independent restaurants, boutique shops and a proper neighbourhood feel. About 10 minutes from the Glynde Taproom by car, or easily combined into a day in the inner east.
Campbelltown and Magill
Further east, Campbelltown and Magill have a more suburban feel but are worth including if you're exploring the area. Magill Estate — one of Penfolds' original production sites — is in Magill and does cellar door visits and tastings. Combines well with a trip to The Suburban Brew if you're doing a full inner east afternoon.
What's on in Glynde and the inner east week to week
The best way to stay across what's on in the inner east is to follow @thesuburbanbrew on Instagram — we post weekly food truck lineups, upcoming events and what's on at the Glynde venue. The monthly events calendar covers live music, markets, family days and seasonal events.
For the broader inner east, the City of Norwood, Payneham and St Peters council events page covers community events, markets and local happenings across the area.
